Metal Content of our Singing Bowls

There is constant talk and rumor about the metal content of bowls.  The 5 metals are: copper, iron, tin, zinc and nickel.  Gold and silver are not present in any "audible" quantity in any bowls unless you actually saw the bowls being made or just plain trust the story you are hearing.  Each bowl can sound different to different people: the way it is held, struck, sung, even room temperature could affect the tone.  We guarantee our bowls and all our products.  We want you to be happy and order with confidence.  If you have any questions call or email.  I have an experienced opinion. I will answer your questions fairly and as best I can.  Kirk Richmond, Partner, FEH

The Tibetan Buddhists use the principle of sound to bring one's concentration into the present.  Singing Bowls are the premier Tibetan sound meditation item.  Though Tibetans receive a lot of the name recognition and credit, the bowls were probably first made in what is today Nepal and the north of India.  We do not sell antiques.  Our mission is to trade and support traditional arts.  We consider trade in true antique items to be mere commerce.  Keep the arts alive, support the local artist and crafts person!

The bowl can be struck like a gong or made to sing by rubbing the outside rim of the bowl with the singing stick.  It can produce a complex and harmonic tone that draws the mind into a state of meditative mental focus.  Each bowl comes with a carved singing stick and a card with information, history and instructions.
